CAT 2018 -

The much awaited IIM CAT notification is out, IIM Calcutta has released the official notification of CAT 2018 on July 29. The application form of CAT 2018 will be available from August 8. The Common Admission Test (CAT) is the most competitive MBA entrance exam of India taken by around 2 lakh candidates every year.

The Common Admission Test (CAT) is an all India Entrance test conducted by IIMs, for admission to various business administration programs across the country, including 2-year full time postgraduate programs in management, a few Executive programs, Fellowship programs in Management at the IIMS, along with programs at other top Indian B-schools like IITs, FMS, S P Jain, MDI, IMT, and more.

Around 4,000 seats are offered through the 20 IIMs. CAT 2018 score card will be valid only for one year until December 31, 2019. Prof. SumantaBasu will be the CAT convener for this year.

CAT 2018 will be conducted on November 25 in two sessions. The exam pattern this year will remain the same as last year. Singapore Management University, joined the list of CAT participating institute last year to become the first ever international B-school to accept the CAT score. From this year onwards, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, will also accept the CAT score for admission to its MBA programme offered by the School of Management and Entrepreneurship.

Eligiblity Criteria

1.As per the eligibility criteria of CAT 2018, candidates should fulfil the following parameters:
2.Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognised University or Institute
3.General and OBC-NC category candidates should obtain at least 50 percent marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA. For reserved category candidates, the minimum percentage to secure is 45
4.The duration of the graduation programme should be minimum 3 years
5.Final year graduation students are also eligible to apply for CAT 2018 provided they complete their programme within the stipulated schedule
6.Age Limit - There is no age limit for applying or appearing in CAT 2018

CAT 2018 Application Fee

The application fee is Rs. 1900 for General category candidates and Rs. 950 for SC/ST/PWD category candidates.

The mode of application fee payment is through Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking.

Minimum CutOff

As the exam CAT is mainly targeted to get into IIMs, the cutoff criteria is one of the main dilemma for aspirants. The cutoff percentile differs every year and the minimum cut off percentile is set determining many factors such as:
• Number of candidates' appeared for the exam
• Number of candidates' passed the exam
• Difficulty level of the question paper
• Number of seats available
Shortlisted candidates from the above percentiles may go through for second stage of selection process like Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI)
